Well ... so much for writing daily!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
To recap the week I would say it was a typical "week one" for a new mom of 2.
Day 2 ... was not the best for me ... or Alexander as we adjust to the changes in our lives. Alex decided that he was not going to take a nap and ended up spending a lot of time in the timeout chair.
Day 3 ... Alexander went to daycare which was good for both of us. I know he misses going and playing with his friends and with the daycare workers. it is so fun to watch him go into "school" as he runs, shouting their names, and gives every worker a big hug! It makes Joe and I feel very blessed to have a great daycare and to have people who love and care for Alexander.
Jamilyn and I went to a Mothers Bunch that is for new moms and meeting with a Lactation Consultant. Jamilyn is not the best eater, so we are supplementing with formula and seeking advice from our physicians for what is the best for our little girl. After the Mother's Bunch (which was a lot more fun than i expected) I had to run an errand ... and found myself wandering around the store for about an hour! :-) It was the first time in a long time that I had by myself. So i laughed, and enjoyed brousing through shopko. I also picked up a few things for Alexander that I will use as special toys for when I am feeding Jamilyn. (Thanks to Kim for the idea to occupy the 2 year old). And we were all happy to be home as a family that evening.
Day 4 ... This was my first day to get the kids out of the house on my own. And it went okay. It took a lot of thought preparation and scheduling and we did pretty good! Alexander participates in a soccer program at daycare once each week. He loves to go play with "Coach A" and "Bob the Ball". Then it was home for another non-successful attempt at a nap. But overall we had a good day together. Alexander loves to color, draw and read books, which are perfect activities for when I am feeding Jamilyn. We also are working with activities that they do at school for counting/numbers and letters. We went outside and i let Alexander play just to see what he would do. Well ... i found him trying to water the garden, scoop up the doggie messes in the back yard, feeding the dog, etc - all activities that he did outside with his Grandpas when they played outside. It was funny to see him trying to do each of these activities.
Day 5 ... another great day but no nap yet again. This is just about when I am about to pull my hair out. Joe only worked a half day and when he got home ... he took 5 MINUTES AND HAD ALEXANDER SLEEPING! So the slightly irritated Mommy - appreciated the fact that he was napping ... but did not appreciate the fact that "super dad" was so successful. We were so glad to have dad home!
